It's been too long, hasn't it? Over three months since out last post, so much for weekly updates! As the months of autumn came upon all of us, the responsibilities and obligations of school and work took control of the team for some time. With each member attending college level education we understandably put our learning before this hobby-level work.
Winter breaks have arrived and work can resume at a normal pace, however that doesn't mean that we haven't done anything during the busy months! Plenty of things have changed with our main project and we feel like these changes will be for the better in the end. Hopefully this blog will answer the questions you may have, even if it's a single person who reads this the whole way through.
Team Members
The team is still tightly knit as it was before, and we hope to spotlight the creators here to give some personality behind the people working. Our primary animator is Kenna Marar who you should definitely support if you are able! She works full time, attends university and works on our projects. Saying we are lucky to have her is a massive understatement. Philippe Racicot is working strong on the concept art, reference sheets, backgrounds and sprites. With him working alongside ten hour school days and putting in the effort to make sure we get the art we need the team is thankful to have him.
April Suzuki has been incredibly busy as of late with her medical degree, plus working in a pharmacy keeps her occupied outside of study. Her music will be what truly completes our worlds, and we will be sure she gets what needs to be done to include her talent! And of course Raina Young is as important as ever to the team. The closer we get to release the more we will turn to her for advise, with her education in the field if business she's the most qualified member of the studio.
It would be rude to not include the other two members that are no longer with the studio. We had two talented writers on board for a short time but in the end it didn't work out. Lucid Creator is currently working in a book series and would greatly appreciate any support put his way. Seht Fawks is spreading his wings across several projects. If you'd like to support an independent creator who's just trying their best at things be sure to check him out.
Main Project
The main project is still half in the design stage and half in the production stage. As new ideas come forth other things change to follow suit. We still have no idea when this project will publicly release but we assure you that it will be worth the wait! Most games go through a process of changing different concepts through the design stage, so we aren't too worried about making changes right now.
What started as a sort of horde-mode with defense building and intense combat has changed into what more closely resembles a JRPG with western elements. While the player won't be building their own character, the ones available will suit the needs of any play style. With each character having a set background rather than having one molded by the player we can create intricate stories while also weaving each character into them deeper and deeper as we progress through development. We hope to see many highs and lows through the story, but this isn't even mentioning the game play itself. You will have a massive world to explore, fighting dangerous enemies and discovering treasure every step of the way. Combat is where the game mostly differs from the Japanese role playing games, being real time rather than turn based. Each character has a unique set of moves to unlock and use against all sorts of foes in combat that closely resembles Golden Axe or Final Fight. A game like this wouldn't be complete without four player coop, which we will support all throughout development.
This project is ambitious and we know it, but with careful planning and dedication we know we can make it a reality! If you would like to support us feel free to subscribe to our blog or follow our twitter!
