Bears are notorious for being fierce, violent, territorial creatures when provoked. In Annihilation it is no different, the bears you encounter in the forest will not hold back at all, and with their masters not far behind it is safe to say that it will be much more than just a stroll in the park.
Large brown bears inhabit the wooded areas in the forests, using high bushes as cover to ensure prey don't see them coming. While traveling through the Big Woodland you are almost sure to encounter more than just a few bears. Thanks to the elf efforts to keep human expansion out of the forests as well as the ferocious nature of the creatures that live within the forest, bear populations are on quite the rise.
As mentioned above these bears have masters, and we will focus on them more with time for today we want to put the spotlight on these great beasts. For now we will simply say that if you thought the elves were trouble then you don't want to take a wrong turn in these woods, or you might meet the beings that tame bears like hounds.
Anyways, back to the four legged fur coats that will break your bones with a single swipe. While many adventurers can handle one or two with a little bit of life left to crawl back to town, in the Big Woodland there are countless creatures to add to the chaos when facing off against these foes.
Bears in the forests typically hunt and live in groups of two, so if you see one in game make sure to prepare for a tough two on one fight. Unless of course you were smart enough to bring a friend along!

The best thing to do when encountering a bear is to outsmart it in order to avoid death, whatever method you may use works as long as you survive the encounter. In this game though... your best bet for survival is to just hit them until they stop hitting back. We do not condone this behavior in real life, hopefully you knew that already though.
