Environments
Inspiration and Design
Golden Flame Studios is home to a number of talented and skilled team members with a myriad of abilities to be put into different projects. While looking into the possible settings for Project Annihilation, it was decided that real life places would inspire our fictional world. Plenty of research went into these decisions, all thanks to one member; Seth Chrisman.
Seth took time and put plenty of effort into finding the perfect places to draw inspiration for lore, mythology, geography and ecology. Many different choices were brought up, but ultimately the group settled on using Europe as a start for each area and it's culture. Seth began his research in Germany, looking to the many forest communities and vast expanses of wilderness that could be found there.
Taking a look into the past of the Germanic people, Seth was able to come up with a number of real life cities to inspire our fictional ones. Even more importantly he gave the Black Forest the targeted inspiration for the design of the in game forest environment. Once it was decided that the Black Forest would be used, it was time to take the gathered information to our environment artist.
Philippe Racicot is the studios one and only environmental artist. Taking in what Seth had gathered he set off to create the first few pieces of the forest environment. Starting with path pieces, he was able to assemble a lovely stage to fight your way through. With varying trees, plenty of bushes and natural clumps of dirt and stones there is plenty to see in our virtual forest that could be easily found in the real thing!
Thanks to these new environment pieces the game comes that much closer to completion. Plenty more is to come to look great on the eyes, make sure to stay tuned to see what is coming next from the Golden Flame Team!
