Annihilation
An Introduction
Annihilation is the largest and most ambitious project that Golden Flame Studios is tackling at the moment. It aims to bring the teams notoriety into the furry communities minds and front pages, to show our skills as individuals and most importantly what we can do as a team. This idea has a lot of history behind it spanning a relatively short period of time considering what has been done on a budget of practically zero dollars.
The project officially began on February 12th, 2018 and work as been done on the project on and off ever since. Originally the team was only three members strong, consisting of the concept and environment artist Philippe Racicot, sprite animator Kenna Marar and the director/programmer Zach Kurtz. With a barebones design document in mind and a dream in mind Zach gathered two people together with skills that he could never dream of harnessing on his own; artistic talent.
This small team of people slowly worked on the early concepts of the project, shifting from genre to genre with different themes and ideas in mind for the final product. It took several months for the current idea of the game to be visualized and even then there was plenty that was going to change as time went on.
In April there was a contest on the app that the three originally met each other on, Furry Amino. It tasked the users to create a space themed adventure in any form of medial desired. While most entries were art pieces, videos, comics and stories the Golden Flame Team went on to create a whole game based around the prompt of obtaining some space milk for your in game boss. Along this endeavor the team gained a new member in the form of April (funny that the contest was during the month of the same name). Since then April has been the teams’ in house composer of any music found in the studios titles.
In the months following April the main project saw lots of progress, taking a much closer form to its current position along the development process. The team also picked up three new members all with helpful skills and talents to help the team grow and expand. The first of these three was Seth Chrisman, team researcher and writer for world lore and history. Next came Raina Young who is the teams business and financial advisor, leading the team into the real world of business and taxes and paperwork with a degree to back her up. Finally came Robert Alsbury, the team's second writer. With a world so large there needs to be plenty of pens on paper to keep up with what happened and what will happen.
